MacBeth Response 1

EQ:

What is loyalty
How far is one willing to go to get what they desire

In this scene Lady MacBeth hears of the Witch's prophesy from her husband and truly believes in it. Due to that she wants her husband to become king for the riches and fame that her husband would get. She only wants the best for her husband but what she tells him to kill King Duncan. MacBeth falters at first but eventually says that he will consider it.
MacBeth's loyalty is questioned when his wife tells him to kill King Duncan. He has always been a faithful servant to Duncan and doesn't wish to risk everything for a chance to become king. However when his manhood is questioned he quickly agrees to reconsider.
Lady MacBeth desires for her husband to become king and therefore goes as far to question what is most important to a man, his manhood. MacBeth himself desires to become king, however because of his loyalty towards his king, he falters. To get what he desires is to kill one of his own kin and to be a traitor towards his country.

  1. I like how you explain how Lady Macbeth is the one who convinces Macbeth that murder was what he needed to do in order to obtain their desires. And you show that even though he himself also wants to be king, he believes himself to be loyal to the king, until Lady Macbeth questions his manhood. I think you did a great job expressing your scene.
