I like how you are keeping your post its on line. I would like to see you had more detail to your journal refections. You have covered the basics. We need to expand bring in specific egs and try to relate to the text. Seeing this tells me I had better model a journal entry or two for the class.

Does evil or fear lead one to the following: experience violence

Many children had been affected by the genocide, and they are the ones left to remember the memories of the fallen. They will always be the ones shouldering the memories of the dead, of the family that they have lost. They have done nothing to prompt the killings, but because the of people who are older that should be wiser, they were forced to live through those memories of the rest of their life. They will always regret not being able to do anything, they will always remember the helplessness that they had to live through.

The children that have been left all experienced the violence firsthand. They have seen people they know murder and be murdered. Just that is enough for them to lose their trust in other people. Valentina had watched as her brother and father were killed by people in her own village. She watched as her mayor, someone whom she should be able to trust take up a machete and murder others. In the scared place of the Church was where the massacre was held, it will always symbolize loss to them.

The children left orphaned and to fight for their own survival, they had lived a life that us people here would not be able to imagine. They live in fear of tomorrow, of how they will be able to survive. Although the worst has already passed, they are too haunted by memories of the past and the uncertainty of their future.

The evil of the genocide has given the children a burden that they will not be able to get rid of. As long as they remember the blood shed by those who tried to survive, they will always fear. They will always fear themselves, of others and of the memories. To the extent where some of those kids would rather die and be rid of the ever constant memories that they are forced to relive.

They will never be able to stop fearing, not until the day that they die.
The violence was just the beginning...

Movie Anaylsis

Friday The 13th
  1. Does evil or fear lead one to the following; experience of violence, infliction or violence and/or observation of violence?
In the movie Friday the 13th, the most common sight is one of violence. With the hunting, the killing and the fear that is shown. In this movie Jason is the epitome of evil, he has gone through all three of those experiences. He experienced fear when he was a young boy and saw his mother being beheaded by a counsellor. He inflicts violence when he does what he believes is protecting Crystal Lake. He observes the fear that he has inflicted on the people he harms or is about to kill. It started out as fear when he watched his mother being killed but it eventually turned him into a psychopath because he was never taken care of. From the victim of the whole situation he turns into a heartless killer who most likely believes what he does is completely right. In a sense he chooses to follow his mother’s footsteps, as throughout the movie he shows a lot of love for his mother. From keeping his mother’s head in his room, to letting Whitney live simply because of the resemblance.

  1. What expression of darkness had the most impact on you and why?
The expression of darkness that had the most impact of me was the scene of Jason’s mother being beheaded. Being the first scene of the movie it all decides how the viewer will watch the movie. Since the scene is scary and unexpected it sets a good tone for the movie. The reason that it impacted me was because of it has a really dark background and because it was an unexpected scene. Also you don’t really expect the first part of a movie to be of somebody getting beheaded.

  1. Connection to presentation done by peers
The one that I felted connected the most to my movie would be Nightmare on Elm Street. Both movies are one of the few horror movies being shown and the overall tone of the movies. They both include killing people and instilling fear into them. The other reason why I felt a connection was because of the movie Freddy vs. Jason which both of the main characters of the two films featured in. Being relatively young at that age it left a big impression on me therefore the connection that I made at once was between the two movies.

SInce we are humans, you believe daaarknes will alsoways exisit. You make it sound so simple. Do you have any other reasons why? Can you elaborate more on the deadly sins rather then just lising them, try and show with sepecific examples why they contribute to the darkness in humanity. ( Is that why they are teh deadly sins and have always exisited?) Goood of you to make that connection and reference. You can use it as you study the stories and movies.
