Movie Anaylsis

Friday The 13th
  1. Does evil or fear lead one to the following; experience of violence, infliction or violence and/or observation of violence?
In the movie Friday the 13th, the most common sight is one of violence. With the hunting, the killing and the fear that is shown. In this movie Jason is the epitome of evil, he has gone through all three of those experiences. He experienced fear when he was a young boy and saw his mother being beheaded by a counsellor. He inflicts violence when he does what he believes is protecting Crystal Lake. He observes the fear that he has inflicted on the people he harms or is about to kill. It started out as fear when he watched his mother being killed but it eventually turned him into a psychopath because he was never taken care of. From the victim of the whole situation he turns into a heartless killer who most likely believes what he does is completely right. In a sense he chooses to follow his mother’s footsteps, as throughout the movie he shows a lot of love for his mother. From keeping his mother’s head in his room, to letting Whitney live simply because of the resemblance.

  1. What expression of darkness had the most impact on you and why?
The expression of darkness that had the most impact of me was the scene of Jason’s mother being beheaded. Being the first scene of the movie it all decides how the viewer will watch the movie. Since the scene is scary and unexpected it sets a good tone for the movie. The reason that it impacted me was because of it has a really dark background and because it was an unexpected scene. Also you don’t really expect the first part of a movie to be of somebody getting beheaded.

  1. Connection to presentation done by peers
The one that I felted connected the most to my movie would be Nightmare on Elm Street. Both movies are one of the few horror movies being shown and the overall tone of the movies. They both include killing people and instilling fear into them. The other reason why I felt a connection was because of the movie Freddy vs. Jason which both of the main characters of the two films featured in. Being relatively young at that age it left a big impression on me therefore the connection that I made at once was between the two movies.
